Election 2010
Dear Friends,
Nearly three years ago, I started this website asking for your vote. Today, I am still honored and excited about representing the schools, educators, and children of Will County.
When I took my oath of office in July 2007, I pledged to not only be a more accessible and visible office, but to improve our business-community relationships. I am pleased with what the staff at the Regional Office, my assistant Shawn Walsh, and I have been involved with in such a short amount of time. The ROE has seen many firsts, including a student charity Art Fair, Teacher Expo, and a trip to Washington, D.C. for our spelling bee champion. In addition, we facilitate a Learning Leaders Co-op to allow our curriculum directors and assistant superintendents to network, developed an Early Childhood Conference led by our talented teachers in Will County, partnered with the Will County Center for Economic Development with its Will County Cares initiative, welcomed back our Will County Administrators meetings, and continued our annual Student Government Day. The state grants we receive allow us to offer professional development to our teachers, provide alternative education for our at-risk students, and support our homeless families. We have created some strong partnerships with our local universities, including University of St. Francis and Lewis University and are planning some future events with Governor State University and Joliet Junior College. Furthermore, I am grateful to our business partners that have helped support our events, such as Com Ed and NiCor, and those organization that have allowed my voice to be heard, including the Community Service Council, Joliet Chamber of Commerce, Will County CED, and our friends at WJOL. Will County has a wealth of positive resources for its schools and to work and teach in this community is a good thing.
I am eager to continue my work as Regional Superintendent. I believe I have led with passion and knowledge. I hope for another term to not only build upon what existed, but improve and expand the Regional Office's outreach. Your support will be appreciated.
